Types Of Vessels

VLOC (>200 000 Tonns)
The dry bulk carriers with a dwt more than 200 000 mt are called very large ore carriers, or vloc. Vale invented the Chinamax (Valemax) velocity to increase the economical effectiveness of transporting iron ore from Brazil to China. At 400 000 mt dwt, they are some of the biggest ships in the world. At only a third of the capital cost of capesize bulk carriers, they can transport twice as much cargo. Chinamax measures 362 m in length, 65 m in beam, and 23 m in molded draft. The vloc relies on shoreside terminals for loading and unloading and is gearless.

Panamax (60-80 000 Tons)
A network of locks, canals, and channels that connects the United States and Canada is known as the Saint Lawrence Seaway. The Saint Lawrence Seaway's bulk carrier capacity is limited by the canal lock basins. The greatest draft is 8 meters and the loa is 226 meters.

Supramax (35-60 000 Tons)
A supramax bulk carrier is a bulk carrier that has a dwt of between 35,000 and 60,000 mt. the vessels are mostly used for transporting small bulks and grains over geographically dispersed trade routes. the typical 55 000 dwt supramax bulk carrier will have the following dimensions: loa 190 m, beam 33 m, and draft 11.5 m. four cranes are available for her to serve five holds.

Aframax (80-120 000 Tons)
The dwt of Aframax tankers ranges from 80,000 to 120,000 tons. Aframax tankers are suitable for short- to medium-haul travel because of their size, which enables them to call at most ports worldwide. An aframax tanker's usual measurements are loa 245 m, beam 40 m, and draft 14 m.

Suezmax (120-200 000 Tons)
A suezmax tanker is a vessel with a displacement of between 100,000 and 200,000 dwt that is designed to allow it to pass through the Suez Canal completely loaded. The canal has expanded and deepened since the tanker's conception, but the name suezmax is still in use. The million barrel tanker is another name for the suezmax ship. Her options are restricted by the canal's depth, which permits a maximum draft of 20.1 meters. A 68-meter air draft limit is also imposed because of the Suez Canal Bridge. There is no limit to the length.
